The first decision is which document you are producing, and it is not merely a label. In many jurisdictions a quote is a fixed price you are offering to be bound by, while an estimate is an informed approximation expected to move as scope clarifies. Calling an uncertain figure a quote can leave you held to it. If the work is not fully specified, say estimate, and say briefly what would change the figure.

An expiry date is the single most useful field on the document and the one most often left blank.
