The Receipt Generator produces payment, rent, cash and donation receipts with the amount rendered in both figures and words, a receipt number, a date and a description, ready to export as a PDF or print. Everything runs in your browser, so payer names and amounts never leave your device.

The most common confusion this tool exists next to is between a receipt and an invoice. An invoice requests payment and is issued before money moves. A receipt confirms payment and is issued after. They do opposite jobs, and sending one when the other was expected creates bookkeeping problems on both sides, so it is worth being deliberate about which document you are creating.

Writing the amount in words is not decoration. Figures are easy to alter and easy to misread, particularly across countries that use different decimal and thousands separators. Spelling the amount out alongside the numeral makes any alteration obvious and removes the ambiguity entirely. Many rent and cash receipts require it by convention or by rule, so it is generated automatically here from the figure you enter.

For rent receipts specifically, the field most often omitted is the period the payment covers, and it is the one that matters most later. A receipt dated the third of the month does not say which month's rent it settled. Tenants making housing-allowance or tax claims are routinely asked for exactly that detail, and a receipt without it may not be accepted. Requirements otherwise vary by jurisdiction, so check your local rules, but tenant, landlord, property address, amount, period and date are near-universal.

Numbering receipts sequentially is worth the small discipline. It makes gaps visible, makes records searchable, and is what allows you to reconcile receipts against invoices and bank entries months later. Documents identified only by a name and a date become very hard to work with at any volume.

Whether a receipt is legally required depends on where you are, the type of transaction and the amount, and in many places a payer can request one as of right. Independently of any obligation it is good practice, because it is the payer's evidence and it eliminates the most common payment dispute, which is disagreement about whether the payment happened at all.
