At its core, Running Pace Calculator does one thing well, calculate pace, speed & race finish time estimates, with instant, accurate results. There is no software to install and no account to create; the tool is ready the moment the page loads.
All processing runs locally in your browser, so your files and data never leave your device. Like every tool in the Medical Tools collection, it works across all modern browsers on desktop, tablet, and mobile: same features, same results, on every device.
Pace Calculator works out running pace, time, or distance from the other two, pace in minutes per kilometre or mile, for training and race planning.
The core relationship is pace = time ÷ distance, and entering any two values solves for the third. That makes it versatile: compute your pace from a finished run, project the finish time a target pace would produce, or work backwards from a goal time to the pace you'd need to hold.
An important nuance for racing is that pace isn't constant across distances, you can hold a quicker pace over 5 km than over a marathon. So projecting a long-race time at your short-race pace overestimates; realistic cross-distance prediction uses models like Riegel's formula that account for the inevitable slowdown. Treat a flat same-pace projection as an optimistic best case.
It supports both min/km and min/mile, reflecting that runners and races mix units. Everything runs in your browser, keeping figures private. Pair it with the other ToolsMonk health and fitness calculators for training and wellness.
Pace slows over longer distances, don't project a marathon time from your 5K pace at the same speed
Plan a race by entering target pace + distance to see the finish time you'd hit
Switch between min/km and min/mile to match your training and race units
