Estimate kidney function (CKD-EPI 2021 & Cockcroft-Gault) with CKD staging.
Loading eGFR Calculator…
eGFR Calculator is a free, browser-based tool built for one job: estimate kidney function (ckd-epi 2021 & cockcroft-gault) with ckd staging. It is part of ToolsMonk's medical tools collection, so you can finish the work without downloading software, creating an account, or jumping between multiple websites.
Typical jobs it handles include your blood test lists creatinine but not egfr, and you want to know what it implies, you want to understand what a reported ckd stage means before an appointment, and you are tracking kidney function across several tests to see whether it is stable or declining. The same page works on desktop, tablet, and mobile, so it is equally quick for a single urgent task and for work you repeat every week.
It is built for getting a real result on the first visit: no learning curve, no account, and the wider ToolsMonk toolbox close at hand.

Enter your serum creatinine, switching between mg/dL and micromol/L as your report uses
Enter age and sex at birth, both of which appear in the CKD-EPI equation
Read the estimated GFR, the KDIGO stage, and the Cockcroft-Gault clearance alongside it
Save the result so repeat tests build a trend rather than a set of isolated numbers
Estimates GFR with the race-free CKD-EPI 2021 equation, the current standard from the NKF-ASN task force
Also computes Cockcroft-Gault creatinine clearance, which is still used for some drug dosing
Stages the result on the KDIGO G1 to G5 scale with the boundaries at 90, 60, 45, 30 and 15
Accepts creatinine in mg/dL or micromol/L using the 88.4 conversion factor
Logs eGFR over time, which matters more than any single value for kidney disease
Your blood test lists creatinine but not eGFR, and you want to know what it implies
You want to understand what a reported CKD stage means before an appointment
You are tracking kidney function across several tests to see whether it is stable or declining
You want to see how the newer race-free equation compares with Cockcroft-Gault on the same numbers
eGFR Calculator is a free online tool on ToolsMonk with a single focus: estimate kidney function (ckd-epi 2021 & cockcroft-gault) with ckd staging. Whether you're a professional, student, or casual user, it provides instant, accurate results right in your browser without requiring any software installation or account creation.
All processing runs locally in your browser, so your files and data never leave your device. The interface adapts to any modern browser and screen size, so the Medical Tools workflow you rely on at a desk is the same one you get on a tablet or phone.
Glomerular filtration rate is the volume of blood your kidneys filter per minute. It cannot be measured directly in routine practice, so it is estimated from serum creatinine, a waste product of muscle metabolism that healthy kidneys clear efficiently. When filtration falls, creatinine rises, and the equations translate that relationship into a filtration rate.
This calculator uses CKD-EPI 2021, published by a joint National Kidney Foundation and American Society of Nephrology task force. Its defining feature is what it removed: the earlier version applied a race coefficient that raised reported eGFR for Black patients, with real consequences for referral and transplant listing. The 2021 equation drops it entirely, and this implementation has no race input at all.
The KDIGO stages run G1 (90 and above) through G5 (below 15), and they describe filtration only. A full picture also needs albuminuria, because kidney damage and reduced filtration are separate axes: someone can have significant protein leak with a normal eGFR. That is why a stage from this calculator is a partial answer.
Creatinine's dependence on muscle mass is the main caveat. A bodybuilder and a frail 80-year-old with identical creatinine do not have identical kidney function, and the equation cannot tell them apart. Where it matters, clinicians measure cystatin C, which does not depend on muscle, or use both together.
This runs entirely in your browser and saved results stay on your device. It applies published equations to numbers you type in and cannot diagnose kidney disease, which requires repeated testing, albuminuria assessment and a clinician's interpretation.
One eGFR below 60 is not chronic kidney disease. KDIGO requires the reduction to persist for at least three months
Enter the creatinine exactly as your report gives it, including the units: mixing mg/dL and micromol/L changes the answer by a factor of 88
Avoid a heavy meat meal and creatine supplements before a test, since both raise creatinine without any change in kidney function
The trend across tests is what nephrologists watch. A stable 55 is a very different picture from a 75 that has fallen to 55
