The Photo Editor is a layered editor in the browser: image, text, shape, drawing and adjustment layers, each with its own opacity, blend mode and layer mask, alongside crop, transform, brush, text, filter and shape tools. The layer model is the point. Editing in layers means the composite stays editable, where a flattened edit is a decision you cannot revisit.

The habit worth forming first is masking rather than erasing. A layer mask hides pixels and can be painted back at any time; an eraser removes them. For cut-outs, composites and anything you may revise, masking is the difference between an edit you can adjust tomorrow and one you have to redo.

Adjustment layers follow the same principle for colour and exposure. Applying a correction directly to a pixel layer bakes it in. Putting it on an adjustment layer leaves the original untouched underneath, so you can reduce the effect, change its blend mode or remove it entirely without touching the image beneath.

On privacy, this tool needs a more precise statement than most on the site, because most of it runs locally and part of it does not. Background removal and upscaling execute in your browser using models downloaded to your device. Export format is worth choosing deliberately. PNG carries transparency losslessly and is the right answer for a cut-out. JPG is smaller but has no alpha channel, so transparent areas become white. WebP and AVIF give the smallest files at a given quality and both support transparency, which usually makes WebP the best default for anything going on the web.

Because the heavy work happens on your own device, the practical ceiling is your machine's memory rather than an imposed limit or a queue. Very large images with many layers are more demanding than the same image with one, so if the editor slows down, flattening finished layer groups is usually the fastest remedy.
