HTML to Image renders a web page, or HTML you supply, in a real browser and returns the result as a PNG or JPG. Rendering in an actual browser engine is what makes the output faithful: stylesheets, web fonts, gradients, flexbox and grid layouts and JavaScript-rendered content all appear exactly as they do on screen, which a simple HTML parser cannot reproduce.

There are three ways in. Pasting HTML is quickest for a snippet or a component. Opening an .html file suits something you already have on disk. Entering a URL captures a live page. All three take the same options afterwards.

Two of those options change the result more than people expect. Width decides the layout the page renders at, so a responsive site captured at mobile width genuinely produces its mobile layout rather than a squeezed desktop one. Full page versus viewport decides whether you get the whole scrolling document or only the first screen, which is the difference between a reference capture and a hero image.

The 2x option is worth turning on for almost anything that will be looked at rather than archived. It renders at double resolution, so text and edges stay sharp on a retina display or when a slide is projected. The file is larger, which is the trade, but soft text in a deck is more noticeable than a bigger PNG.

PNG or JPG is the usual transparency question. PNG carries an alpha channel, so a page with no background colour stays transparent. JPG has none, so the same page comes out on white. If you are capturing a component to drop onto another background, PNG is the answer.

This tool cannot run in your browser, and the page says so rather than implying otherwise. Rendering a page faithfully requires a real browser engine, so the render happens on a ToolsMonk server: the URL or HTML you submit is sent over an encrypted connection, rendered, and the image returned. Nothing is stored afterwards. Two practical consequences follow: pages behind a login will render as their signed-out state, because the renderer has no session, and cookie banners and consent overlays will appear in the capture exactly as a first-time visitor would see them.
