PDF to Excel detects tabular data in a PDF and reconstructs it as an Excel spreadsheet, turning static figures into data you can sort, filter, and calculate. It saves the tedious, error-prone job of retyping tables out of a report or statement.
The clever part is detection. PDFs don't store tables, only text placed at coordinates, so the tool analyses those positions to infer where rows and columns sit. Clean, well-aligned tables reconstruct accurately; complex ones with merged cells or irregular spacing are harder and may need a little cleanup, a limitation shared by every PDF-to-Excel converter.
Numbers are preserved as numbers rather than text, so the spreadsheet is immediately usable for sums and formulas. And because the file is processed in your browser rather than sent to a third-party service, your data stays private.
One requirement: there has to be real text to extract, so scanned image-only PDFs should go through OCR PDF first. The output is a standard .xlsx that opens in Excel, Google Sheets, and LibreOffice.
