Each grade becomes grade points, is multiplied by that course's credits, and the total is divided by the credits counted. A strong grade in a 4-credit course therefore lifts your GPA more than the same grade in a 1-credit seminar.

It supports four scales: the standard 4.0 scale, a 4.3 scale that counts A+ above A, the 10-point scale used by many Indian universities, and a plain percentage average. Switching scale remaps any grade the new scale does not recognise, so your course list stays valid instead of silently breaking.

Yes. Mark a course as not counting and the GPA Calculator keeps it on the list but excludes it from the average, which is how most institutions treat pass/fail and audited courses. An unrecognised grade is skipped and flagged rather than scored as a zero, so a blank entry never drags your result down.

Set a target GPA and the credits you plan to take, and the calculator shows the average you need across those new credits. If the answer is above the scale maximum, it tells you plainly that the target needs more than one term, which is more useful than a number nobody can achieve.
