Finding the right tool

255 tools is more than anybody browses, so there are three faster routes.

• •Press Ctrl + K, or Cmd + K on a Mac. That opens a search box from anywhere on the site, including from inside a tool, and it searches tools, categories and articles together. Escape closes it.
• •Describe the job, not the tool. Searching for what you are trying to do usually lands better than guessing a name: "make a PDF smaller" finds the compressor, "remove background" finds the cut-out tool.
• •Browse if you would rather. Every tool on one page, grouped into the 10 categories.

Working offline

241 of the 255 tools keep working once the page has loaded, even with the network switched off, because the work happens in your browser rather than on a server. The rest need to fetch something first: a few pull down an AI model the first time you use them and then work offline afterwards, and a handful genuinely need a connection every time, because the thing they do is look something up.

You can also install the site as an app. In Chrome or Edge, look for the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar; on an iPhone, use Share and then Add to Home Screen. It opens in its own window with no browser chrome, and the tools you have already visited keep working without a connection.

What an account adds

Nothing is taken away if you never make one. An account is free and adds three things.

• •Favourites that follow you. The tools you star are tied to the account rather than to one browser, so they are there on your phone as well as your laptop.
• •Somewhere to keep a result. After a tool produces a file you are offered the choice of saving it to your account: 100 MB in total, up to 50 MB per file, encrypted where it is stored, and openable again from any device you sign in on. It is off unless you ask for it, file by file.
• •Unfinished work, carried over. A few tools where you are genuinely building something, like the PDF editor and the invoice and resume builders, can keep the draft in your account instead of only in this browser. That is a switch you turn on, and turning it off puts it back.

Where your files go

237 of the 255 tools do the whole job inside your browser, so the file never reaches us at all: it is not uploaded, not stored and not seen. The other 18 do send something to a server, and each one is named along with the reason, because a promise that broad is only worth anything if the exceptions are listed too.

What your browser needs

Any current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on a desktop or a phone. Because the heavy tools run on your own machine rather than ours, how fast they are depends on your device: the AI tools in particular are noticeably quicker on a laptop than on an older phone, and a very large PDF or a high-resolution photo needs memory to work in.

If a tool will not start, the usual cause is an extension blocking the code it needs, or a cached copy of an older version of the site. A hard reload fixes the second one. If it persists, tell us which tool and which browser.
