Bandwidth Converter translates between data-rate units — bits and bytes per second across Kbps, Mbps, Gbps, and MB/s — and crucially clarifies the bits-vs-bytes distinction that confuses almost everyone.

Here's the heart of it: internet speeds are advertised in megabits per second (Mbps), but file sizes and download managers use megabytes (MB), and a byte is 8 bits. So a 100 Mbps connection tops out around 12.5 MB/s — divide by 8. That factor is exactly why downloads feel slower than your plan's headline number, and converting between the two removes the mystery.

Capitalisation is the trap: Mbps (lowercase b, megabits) versus MBps or MB/s (capital B, megabytes) differ by 8×. ISPs quote the bigger bits number; your transfers show the smaller bytes number. Knowing this lets you sanity-check whether you're getting the speed you pay for.
