Convert between Mbps, Gbps, MB/s, and GB/s.
Bandwidth Converter is a free browser-based tool that helps you convert between mbps, gbps, mb/s, and gb/s. It is part of ToolsMonk's converters collection, so you can finish the job without downloading software, creating an account, or jumping between multiple websites.
This tool is especially useful for workflows such as working out real download speed (mb/s) from an mbps connection, converting between bits and bytes per second, and estimating transfer or streaming bandwidth. Because it runs directly in your browser, you can use it on desktop, tablet, or mobile while keeping the process fast and easy for one-off tasks as well as repeat work.
Bandwidth Converter is designed for people who want a practical, privacy-friendly workflow with instant results inside the larger ToolsMonk library.

Bandwidth Converter is a powerful free online tool available on ToolsMonk that helps you convert between mbps, gbps, mb/s, and gb/s. Whether you're a professional, student, or casual user, our bandwidth converter provides instant, accurate results right in your browser without requiring any software installation or account creation.
As part of our Converters collection, this tool is designed with simplicity and power in mind. All processing happens client-side, ensuring your data remains completely private and secure. The tool works seamlessly across all modern browsers on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
Bandwidth Converter translates between data-rate units — bits and bytes per second across Kbps, Mbps, Gbps, and MB/s — and crucially clarifies the bits-vs-bytes distinction that confuses almost everyone.
Here's the heart of it: internet speeds are advertised in megabits per second (Mbps), but file sizes and download managers use megabytes (MB), and a byte is 8 bits. So a 100 Mbps connection tops out around 12.5 MB/s — divide by 8. That factor is exactly why downloads feel slower than your plan's headline number, and converting between the two removes the mystery.
Capitalisation is the trap: Mbps (lowercase b, megabits) versus MBps or MB/s (capital B, megabytes) differ by 8×. ISPs quote the bigger bits number; your transfers show the smaller bytes number. Knowing this lets you sanity-check whether you're getting the speed you pay for.
From the MB/s figure you can estimate download times (file size ÷ speed, plus real-world overhead). Conversion runs in your browser with nothing uploaded. Pair it with the Data Storage and other ToolsMonk converters for technical reference.
Divide your Mbps by 8 to get real MB/s download speed — the #1 source of 'slow internet' confusion
Watch capitalisation: Mbps = megabits, MBps = megabytes (8× bigger)
Estimate download time as file size (MB) ÷ (Mbps ÷ 8), then add overhead
